Georgia Tech’s athletic programs and sports-related initiatives generated notable headlines this week, from a football road trip to the West Coast to a landmark partnership connecting Yellow Jackets students with one of Atlanta’s most recognized sports organizations.
Football Road Trip to Northern California
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets traveled to Northern California last weekend to take on Stanford, with the trip drawing a delegation of Institute leaders and supporters. Provost Raheem Beyah noted that the visit also served as an opportunity to connect with hundreds of Georgia Tech alumni, parents, and friends across the Silicon Valley region — one of the Institute’s largest alumni communities — at events hosted at prominent technology companies. Alumni expressed strong pride in the Institute’s growing reputation and their shared Yellow Jackets identity.
Divers Sweep the Week
On the pool deck, Georgia Tech divers turned in a standout week heading into fall competition. The program swept its latest event, building early momentum as the team looks ahead to the heart of the season.
Atlanta Braves Executive Joins Georgia Tech Faculty
Adam Zimmerman, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Content for the Atlanta Braves, has joined the Scheller College of Business faculty this fall as part of Georgia Tech’s new Business of Sports and Entertainment minor. Zimmerman brings hands-on front-office experience from one of Major League Baseball’s most innovative franchises directly to the classroom, offering students a real-world look at sports marketing, content strategy, and the business side of professional athletics. The collaboration represents a growing bridge between Georgia Tech’s academic programs and Atlanta’s sports industry. The Braves are currently in postseason play.
