Award-winning journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault and orthopedic physician Hamilton E. Holmes were honored with the 2020 Ivan Allen, Jr. Prize for Social Courage at the Biltmore Hotel on Georgia Tech’s campus. Holmes received the award posthumously and was represented by his son. Hunter-Gault and Holmes were the first African American students to attend the University of Georgia.
