NSF State and Regional AI Infrastructure Hubs

The National Science Foundation has opened a new limited submission opportunity through its State and Regional AI Infrastructure Hubs Program. The program supports coalitions of higher education institutions working in partnership with industry, philanthropy, and state and local governments to expand access to AI infrastructure, accelerate AI-enabled scientific discovery, and develop the AI workforce. Proposal budgets range from $4 million to $12 million over a five-year period. All Georgia Tech faculty interested in participating — whether as lead institution or partner — must submit an internal notice of intent by August 18, 2026, via the Georgia Tech InfoReady portal.

NSF 26-512: Unlocking Dataset Value for AI-Enabled Scientific Discovery

A new NSF funding opportunity aims to enhance existing scientific datasets so they can drive new discoveries through artificial intelligence and other advanced methods. The program anticipates 10–20 Impact awards of up to $2 million, 5–10 Flagship awards of up to $5 million, and 10–20 Planning grants of up to $200,000. There are no limits on the number of proposals an organization, PI, or co-PI may submit. The full proposal deadline is November 4, 2026.

CMMC Requirements for DoW Funded Research

The U.S. Department of War recently removed the November 10, 2026, deadline for third-party Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Phase II assessments. However, CMMC security requirements for protecting controlled unclassified information remain in effect, and Georgia Tech will continue its planned migration of covered research into the Shield enclave. No immediate action is required from researchers; project teams will be contacted as their projects are reviewed and transition timelines are assigned.

Cost Share Form Updated with FY27 Rates

The Cost Share and Institutional Support Form has been updated with FY27 rates and is now available online. Researchers preparing cost share or institutional support requests should always download a fresh copy from the Cost Share and Institutional Support webpage, as the form will continue to be updated throughout the year.
