Georgia Tech Academics Digest – Thursday, October 15, 2026

Ethics Week returns to campus in November, and two info sessions open doors for students eyeing French study abroad programs and the Leaders in Progress & Service distinction.

Thursday brought a trio of announcements from around campus, each one a reminder that a Georgia Tech education stretches well beyond the problem set. Here is what crossed the wire on October 15, 2026.

Ethics Week Returns with a Focus on “Ethics in Action”

Georgia Tech’s Ethics Week is back, running Nov. 2-6 under the theme “Ethics in Action” – a direct nod to the Institute’s core value, We act ethically. The week pairs educational programming with campus engagement, bringing together Institute experts, guest speakers, and the University System of Georgia to show how ethical decision-making underpins innovation, trust, and public service. “Ethics in Action is about recognizing that integrity isn’t something we save for the big moments,” said Joshua Toas, chief ethics and compliance officer. “It shows up in the everyday choices we make: how we treat one another, how we speak up, and how we follow through on our commitments.” Expect giveaways, snacks, and real conversations at events across campus. The full schedule and RSVP links are posted at ethicsfirst.gatech.edu/ethicsweek. Read the full announcement.

French Study Abroad Info Session Set for Nov. 3

The School of Modern Languages and the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts are hosting an info session on French study abroad for undergraduates thinking about Summer and Fall 2027. The session covers the LEAF, LBAT, and SLS programs, with program highlights, application timelines, and the planning details that tend to sneak up on students. It runs Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Scholar’s Event Theatre, Price Gilbert Memorial Library, Room 1280. Questions can go to Andera Jonsson at ajonsson7@gatech.edu. Event details.

Leaders in Progress & Service Distinction Info Session – Virtual

Also on Nov. 3: a virtual information session on the Leaders in Progress & Service (LP&S) Graduation Distinction, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. The session walks through program goals, requirements, and the experiences that count toward the distinction, and it is aimed specifically at students who have not yet completed a foundational course. An RSVP is required, with the Zoom link sent out the week prior. Academic Program Manager Sudie Davis (sudie.davis@gatech.edu) is the contact. RSVP and learn more.

Looking Ahead

Two of today’s three items land on the same Tuesday in November, which makes early November a good stretch to keep an eye on the campus calendar. If you are a student weighing a semester abroad or a graduation distinction, these sessions are the low-commitment way to find out what is involved.
