Jackets win nail-biter over Georgia Southern - GT Jackets


Georgia Tech held on for a victory on Tuesday night against Georgia Southern by  a final score of 7-6.

It wasn’t an easy but Georgia Tech was able to hold off Georgia Southern on Tuesday night by the slimmest of margins. The Jackets picked up their 11th win of the season in a 7-6 win while handing the Eagles their 8th loss of the season.

The Yellow Jackets pieced together 14 hits in their one-run victory including four hits from DH Michael Guldberg. Guldberg also drove in two RBI for the evening in the victory, leading the teams in both categories. Overall, four other Jackets had multi-hit games on Tuesday night.

Amos Willingham made his third start of the season and pitched well through five innings pitched, allowing just two runs on seven hits. He was pulled after just 57 pitches. The Jackets bullpen struggled in their four innings of relief, giving up four runs combined on 6 hits and 6 walks. Not the effort Danny Hall was hoping for out of the pen.

Jonathan Hughes picked up the win on Tuesday night his second of the year while Luke Bartnicki picked up his first career save in the victory. Willingham’s ERA dropped to 3.92 after his five superb innings of work and his record remains at 2-0 on the season.

The Jackets will continue their homestand on Friday night when they begin a three-game series against Virginia. It will be the Jackets’ first home ACC series of the 2019 season and their second overall. They dropped their first ACC…
