4-star receiver Bryce Gowdy commits to Georgia Tech

A four-star wide receiver has announced that he intends to play for Georgia Tech. Bryce Gowdy of Deerfield Beach, Fla., made his commitment public Tuesday, selecting Tech and coach Geoff Collins over Oregon, Penn State, Syracuse and West Virginia.

It is another signal of Collins’ recruiting ability. Tech has not had a wide receiver sign with Tech who had higher than a three-star rating (247 Sports composite) since 2004, when Calvin Johnson (a five-star) signed with Tech out of Sandy Creek High.

Gowdy, from Deerfield Beach High, is the second four-star prospect to commit to the class, following cornerback Miles Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla., and the 20th overall. He is the second wide receiver, following Grayson High’s Ryan King.

Gowdy, listed at 6-foot-2 and 207 pounds, is rated the No. 311 prospect in the 2020 class, the second-highest rating among the Yellow Jackets’ 20 commits after Brooks.

Gowdy made an official visit to Tech in late May, calling “amazing” and “a dream come true” and saying that the only reason that he didn’t commit after the visit was that he didn’t want to act off impulse. After official visits to Syracuse and West Virginia, he evidently was ready to make a thought-out choice.

Tech is ranked 23rd nationally for the 2020 class and fifth in the ACC behind Clemson, Miami, Florida State…
